Frequently Asked Questions

What's a Neighborhood Node?

Evolving Edge Neighborhood Nodes are part of our Edge Computing Cloud. These nodes process tasks for devices in your town or city - think security cameras, smart home devices, at-home patient monitoring, content delivery, and self-driving cars.

Neighborhood Nodes make all these things faster and safer.

You can host our node software on almost any computer, and get paid to do it.

Can I run this on my computer?

Our node software runs on these operating systems and devices:

  • Windows

  • Mac

  • Linux (Desktop & Docker)

  • Raspberry Pi and other single board computers

We will also have community plugins for Unraid, TrueNAS, Open Media Vault, Synology, UGreen and others.

How does it work?
  1. Sign up for the program.

  2. Install the app. Make sure you allow it to run in the background all the time.

  3. Leave your computer turned on and connected to the internet.

  4. We'll send tasks to your computer when it's available.

You'll receive payment for the tasks we process on your machine every month.

Will my computer or internet connection become slow?

If it does, it won't be because of your participation in the node network. Here's why:

  1. You Schedule. Are you a gamer that likes to play on Saturday nights? Do you work from home Monday through Friday until 5 PM? Just tell us.

  2. We Monitor. We constantly monitor the performance of your device's processor, memory, and network speed to make sure it can be safely used.

  3. We Distribute. We match your schedule and your computer's performance to available tasks. Tasks will only be distributed to your device if they fit your schedule, or if your computer's resources are available.

Do I have to worry about privacy and security?

You should always guard your privacy and security, but not because of your participation in the node network. Here's why:

Our customers are just as concerned about privacy and security as you are. All data is encrypted when it travels to and from your computer, and tasks are performed inside our secure application.

We monitor the performance of your computer (processor, memory, network) to make sure it continues to run smoothly for you, but we never access any of your data from your computer or your internet connection.

How do I get paid?

You'll receive a cash payment in the middle of every month based on the previous month's earnings.

Payment is made via PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, Direct Deposit or through gift cards from hundreds of retailers. You can also donate your earnings to nine different charities.
